House Sparrow

This little fellow was perched on our birdbath this summer.  It's actually a fountain, but the birds considered it their birdbath and used to bathe in and drink from it all day.  We could watch them and take pictures from the kitchen window.  Interestingly, for a while we had a lot of bees on it as well, apparently drinking from the wet areas of stone.  They don't come anymore because the fountain is kaput and needs to be repaired or have a new pump installed.  Anyway, I am moderately satisfied with this painting.  I like the drawing, the composition and the rendering of the fountain and water.  But it's a bit gray; I feel like it could use greater contrast, or some brighter colors.  (No. 26, 6x6", on Gessobord, Sept. 19, 2012)
