“What we call little things are merely the causes of great things; they are the beginning, the embryo, and it is the point of departure which, generally speaking, decides the whole future of an existence.” (Henri Frederic Amiel)

A Sweet Seagull
I like this fellow. I would say that I was happier with this bird than with any daily painting that came before. I felt like the brushstrokes were free and expressive, yet at the same time there was crispness and detail to the form. There are some nice brights and darks. And he is much more three-dimensional and lifelike than the seagulls in No. 7. This felt good. I needed that. (No. 11, 6x8", on Raymar panel, Sept. 3, 2012)
