Oak Shadows

I am always amazed by the beautiful oaks on the grounds of Rice University, which cast amazing shadow patterns in the bright sun.  I'm not sure I'm capable yet of doing justice to that scene in oil, at least not in a short time frame.  But although this doesn't exactly capture the scene, it captures something I like -- the brightness of sun through branches and the chaos of shadow patterns below.  I like how it's a little more "liberated" than my other efforts, to the point that the patterns are nearly abstract.  So I'm actually pretty happy with this one.  I'd like to return to this subject one day.  (No. 61, 6x6", on Gessobord, Oct. 25, 2012)
