“What we call little things are merely the causes of great things; they are the beginning, the embryo, and it is the point of departure which, generally speaking, decides the whole future of an existence.” (Henri Frederic Amiel)

Sweetie on the Beach
I love this one. It is of my husband reading one early evening on Galveston beach. Behind him is some sand that was heaped up on riprap at the base of the seawall. I like the looseness of the brushstrokes in this one and the muted colors. My husband doesn't like it -- can it be that people don't like paintings of themselves the same way they don't like photos of themselves? (No. 44, 6x6", on Gessobord, Oct. 8, 2012)
