White Kitty in Sunlight
This was my first attempt at painting (in oils) the great White Kitty (c. 9/88 - 5/07), my beloved cat of yore. I think it's pretty good at capturing him, but the background is a bit wooden and inharmonious, which I think might come from a too slavish devotion to what was literally there in the photo, instead of taking artistic license to adjust it to improve the composition and color range. A better painting of him will come later (#90). (No. 76, 6x6", on Gessobord, Nov. 11, 2012)
