“What we call little things are merely the causes of great things; they are the beginning, the embryo, and it is the point of departure which, generally speaking, decides the whole future of an existence.” (Henri Frederic Amiel)

Tugging
This one was time-consuming! I have a tendency to choose complicated scenes without realizing how much detail is involved. Of course, one of my goals in painting is to learn to simplify, but I wasn't very far along that path when I did this (and I'm still not!). I'm pretty happy with the drawing, the colors, and the manner in which everything is represented, yet I'm not all that excited about it overall -- it's probably the composition that nags at me. This photo was taken from a restaurant on the Houston Ship Channel. (No. 93, 8x8", on Gessobord, Dec. 5, 2012).
